The LGBT Resource Center at UCSD provides a visible presence on campus and enhances a
sense of connection and community among LGBT faculty, staff, students, alumni and
the UCSD Community. Let the LGBT Resource Center be your home away from home.
We encourage you to get involved by visiting the Center and connecting with
members of our community. Subscribing to the
Rainbow Newsletter
will give you up to
date information on queer life at UCSD. We encourage you
to participate in the student groups, LGBT peer support
groups, and the UCSD LGBT Staff and Faculty
Association.

current LGBT issues on the state and national levels.

the truth, Bree embarks on a journey with him that will challenge and change
both their lives and bring them closer to the truth of their connection.

Hidden Voices - The Lives of LGBT Muslims
Speaker: Faisal Alam
5:00pm
Mandeville Center East
This presentation aims to dispel myths about Islam, a religion that is
commonly misunderstood in today's world. By exploring the complex diversity
within the Muslim world and by illustrating the many challenges facing queer
Muslims, this presentation will bring new light into the lives of an often
invisible and silent community: Muslims who are lesbian, gay, bisexual,
transgender, intersex and questioning. LGBT human rights, the concerns of women
and religious minorities and the history of sodomy laws & Islamic Shariah laws
will also be discussed. Additionally the history of the queer Muslim movement in
the United States post 9/11 and the suppression of LGBT people in predominantly
Muslim countries under the guise of the "war on terror" will also be explored in
this interactive presentation.
